As the secondary school weighted assessments wrap up, many of you may be looking forward to enjoying the June holidays. Some may have had practicals, written papers or others may have had assignments to explore topics beyond their syllabus. Regardless of your examination type or score, there are important lessons to be learned as we gear up for the next term ahead. Read on to find out our recommended plans for the June holidays for a productive, rewarding month.
Give yourselves a pat on the back for surviving the examination season, and enjoy the month-long break with your friends and family. Taking some time off to unwind is important, and rejuvenates your mind after a stressful period. Go on walks, brunches, movies or any other activity you wish to do – you absolutely deserve it! However, remember that time is still money, and we should manage our time wisely between fulfilment and revision to be fully prepared for what is to come in the next semester.
Especially as the next semester may be more hectic and pressurising when faced with the looming presence of end-of-year examinations, it is important to use the holidays to catch up if need be. Go through your papers and worksheets, and identify weaker areas to work on. You may single out specific topics you need to focus more on, or identify your problems with each topic (if any). Some of us here at My Masterclass recommend going through your previous material, be it from school or tuition, so as to sufficiently familiarise yourself with the content before the holidays end.
For some, the DSA-EAE interviews may come into full swing in June. Remember to read up on the necessary information of your desired talent programme/course, and understand what the school is looking for. You may also prepare for the interview during your free time, using our interview tips which can be found here. For parents, if you wish to prepare for the interview together with your child, click here to find out more. More importantly, take some time to reflect upon your aspirations and motivations that lead you to your dream – find what makes you the person you are and share that bravely!
If you think you may need extra help over the June holidays to catch up on your school syllabus or require exposure to more practice questions/answering techniques, do not be afraid to sound out to your parents. The effort put in today will reap the rewards of hard work and perseverance as the next examination season comes around. Holidays are the best time to clarify any misconceptions and brush up on your skills – tuition centres offer revision classes that cater to your weaker topics and provide you with the help you need. My Masterclass is currently offering June Holiday topical revision classes, so feel free to check out the Instagram page for more information and resources.
With that, enjoy your well-deserved June holidays!
